This page covers everything you need to know about how we build, order, and deliver your custom bedroom furniture. We believe that honest information and clear expectations are the foundation of great craftsmanship - and happy customers.

Made-to-Order Furniture

We don't keep stock on hand - every order is built to your specifications. That means you'll get a piece made for your space, not something pulled from a shelf.

If you are indifferent to specific measurements in our most custom builds, check out our Foundation Series, as shown in our catalogue - same solid wood quality, with fewer custom details for a more affordable build.

What We Build With

We primarily use spruce and pine, both hand-selected for strength and Beauty.-
Each board is individually chosen and cut to required size - never pre-joined or manufactured boards.
Expect natural variations: knots, grain changes, checking and colour shifts are part of real wood's charm. These are not defects - they're what make every Black Rabbit piece one-of-a-kind.

Because every board is unique, stain colours may absorb differently from one piece to another, giving each build its own character and warmth.

Will My Piece Look Exactly Like the Photos?

Not exactly - and that's the beauty of custom work.

Your dimensions or design choices can slightly change proportions.
Lighting and staging in photos may look different from your space.
Each board of wood absorbs stain in its own way.

You can trust that your furniture will be built with the same quality, care, and construction as the ones you see in our photos.

Drawer Slides & Hardware

We use solid wood slides, not metal runners.
Wood naturally expands and contracts with humidity, and wood-on-wood slides allow for that natural movement without the binding that may occur with fixed metal slides.
Our slides are durable - a time-tested system that matches the strength and integrity of solid wood furniture.

Mattress Setup - No Boxspring Needed

All our beds are designed to be used without a boxspring.

Each frame includes multiple centre and end supports - 10 for a king, 7 for a queen - and sturdy, screwed down slats.
This provides strong, even support for your mattress while maintaining that solid, handcraft feel

Ordering & Deposits

A 50% deposit is required to begin your order and secure materials.
The remaining 50% balance is due upon delivery or pickup.
Once your deposit is received, your order is officially in our build schedule. At this time, you will be notified of your estimated completion date as determined by orders we currently have when yours is placed, and more information should we require it. Please do not worry if you do not promptly receive this email as we prefer to keep our responses personal rather than automated. We may need a little extra time to get this response prepared to you as we may be finishing up an order or away on a delivery.
Completion time is most often estimated at 6 to 8 weeks after a deposit is placed.

You are welcome to reach out at any time to discuss your design, stain preferences, measurements, or any any other question before committing.

Delivery & Pickup

We offer local deliver and in-home setup with 300 km of Edmonton (delivery fee applies). Once your order is complete, we will provide you with our earliest available delivery day and to confirm a day and time that works for you as well.
Delivery and setup services are only available every second week.
Outside this area, pickup across Canada is available.
All delivery options are available through our Add-Ons & Accessories collection shown in our catalogue.

Please note that we currently do not offer standard freight or shipping.

Care & Maintenance

Cleaning:

Dust Regularly: Use a soft, dry microfibre cloth to dust the surface periodically.
Gentle Cleaner: For a deeper cleaning, mix a solution of mild dish soap and warm water. Dampen a cloth with the solution (never soak the wood) and wipe the surface gently.
Vinegar Solution: A mix of equal parts white vinegar and water can help remove grime. Apply with a soft cloth, but avoid soaking.

Stain Removal:

Baking Soda Paste: For tough stains, create a paste with baking soda and water. Apply gently with a soft cloth, then wipe clean.
Olive Oil and Vinegar: For minor scratches and scuffs, mix equal parts olive oil and white vinegar. Apply sparingly to the affected area, buffing with a soft cloth.

Maintenance:

Furniture Polish: Use a high-quality polish or conditioner designed for wood. Test on an inconspicuous area first. Regular applications can enhance shine and provide a protective layer.
Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Stay away from ammonia-based cleaners, as they can damage the finish.

A Note on Craftsmanship & Timing

Every piece is built buy hand - start to finish - by just the two of us. We take great pride in careful craftsmanship, and that means we never rush a build just to meet a date on paper, but to hand you furniture you will love for decades.

Each completion date we provide is an estimated timeline, base on current orders, material availability, and the level of detail in your custom design. While we do our best to stay within that timeframe, please understand delays can sometimes occur due to:

Material shortages or delays from our suppliers.
Finishing or staining challenges, such as unpredictable wood absorption or changes in humidity or temperature affecting the staining process.
Human factors, like illness, injury or personal emergencies (we're a two-person team, so even small setbacks can affect scheduling).
Unforeseen events, such as weather, delivery interruptions, or equipment maintenance.

We'd rather take a little extra time and deliver furniture we're truly proud of - furniture that you will love.

Refunds, Returns & Order Changes

Each piece of furniture from Black Rabbit Custom Bedrooms is handcrafted to your exact size, stain, and design. Because of this, all sales are final.

Deposits:

A 50% deposit secures your materials and build spot. This deposit is non-refundable after materials are purchases.

Order Changes:

Changes can be made to an order after it is placed prior to completion. We encourage each customer to reach out with any change to be made or with anything to add to the order.

Damages or Defects:

If your furniture arrives with a workmanship issue or damage, please contact us - we will repair or resolve it quickly.

Wood is a natural material - variations in colour, the grain of the wood, knots and natural checking of the board, gapping due to the natural contraction and expansion of the wood are not considered defects, but part of the natural beauty of the wood. Final Sale

All completed custom furniture sales are final once delivered or picked up.
