Information and Answers to your Questions

We take great pride in offering solid constructed furniture with each piece being unique based on measurements provided by each customer to best fit their room and their comfort.  The natural grain in our wood products further provide that one-of-a-kind look as no two boards are the same.

DO YOU HAVE ANY BEDS IN STOCK?

We do not have any stocked inventory as our products are built on a customer order basis. We often have potential customers come to us seeking one of our solid bed designs indifferent to the specifics required for a fully custom build.  We have created our Foundation Series, as shown in our Catalogue, to address the demand for a quick, less personalized purchase at a lower cost.

WHAT TYPE OF WOOD DO YOU USE?

We use a combination of spruce and pine.  We do not purchase our materials in bulk as we prefer to hand select each board on an order basis.  To further guarantee the solid structure of our furniture products, we choose to rip cut our boards in order to avoid the use of pre-manufactured jointed boards, as well, allowing us to obtain the dimensional size to build each piece per the measurements provided.

With the use of real wood, there will be knots, which may come out of the board, and other cracks shown on the board due to being head dried.  Wood checking and splitting may also be seen, especially on the 4x4 posts used on our headboards and footboards.  Wood checking is a natural phenomenon that occurs in larger timbers as the wood dries. This causes cracks that run lengthwise along the grain, however, does not affect the structural integrity of the board. This is actually a common occurrence seen in logs used to construct the walls of a log home.  Also, depending on the grain of the board, variations in the stain colour will show.  Lighter stain colours will show a lot lighter on boards with heavier grain.  There may be other abrasions on a board due to the process of how it was milled which may be more visible once stained.  None of these are considered defects to our products, rather a contribution to the unique look of each piece that is built.

HOW WILL THE STAIN FINISH LOOK?

On our Stain and Finishing Colours page, pictures are shown of our most common stain finishes as they would look on our finished products.  The stain products we use are formulated to protect indoor furniture while revealing the beauty of the furniture.  Cleaning is easy and pledge works well.  We do not offer MDF products with veneer finishes.  When ordering, please be aware that our finishing of the natural wood will not resemble a veneer finish.  There are numerous pictures on this website to show what our finishes look like.  Our products are handmade and will have a handmade look oppose to a factory manufactured look.

WILL MY ORDER LOOK AS PICTURED?

An order will not look exactly as pictured and this is due to many factors.  The measurements provided will change the look of an order compared to what is pictured.  As well, the varying knots, lines and saturation of each board will have a varying affect on the look of each order.  This is what contributes to each piece being one-of-a-kind.

DO YOU USE METAL DRAWER RUNNERS?

Our bed frame drawers are quite large.  24 inches wide, 72 inches long and 7.5 inches deep.  These are dresser size drawers providing an excellent solution for small rooms that cannot fit a dresser, or to offer additional storage.  We use wooden drawer slides.  As solid wood is considered a living organism, the wood is constantly slightly moving.  It contracts and expands with varying humidity levels.  We have found in the past that binding will occur with the use of metal slides due to contraction and expansion.  We are confident in our wood slides.  The drawers will not "fall out".  The hardboard used on the bottom of our drawer slide very nice and with ease.  As well, more weight can be included in a drawer sitting on a wooden slide oppose to hanging on a metal glide.

CAN I USE A MATTRESS WITHOUT A BOXSPRING?

We recommend using our bed frames without a box spring.  Our frames are very well supported to the floor- 10 points for a king frame and 7 points for a queen frame.  Each frame is provided with an adequate slat system, all which provides more mattress support than that of a box spring.

DO YOU REQUIRE A DEPOIT?

We require a 50% deposit upon ordering.  This is to ensure the cost of your materials are covered and displays you are committed to the order you have placed.  At checkout, you will see the acceptable ways to pay the deposit amount.  An order is not considered placed until the 50% deposit for the order is received with the remainder of payment due at pick up or delivery.  We are also open to having any potential customer come by to meet us, to discuss your order and to see the work we do prior to placing an order.  If you are interested in a meet, please send a text or an email to the phone number or email address shown on our contact page.  We do enjoy putting a face to the order we are building!
