POLICIES AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

At Black Rabbit Custom Bedrooms, every piece of furniture is handcrafted to order based on your selected dimensions, design, and stain finish.

 

ORDER REVIEW & CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITY

Customers are responsible for reviewing and approving all order details prior to production, including:

  • Measurements and fit within their space, including moving through doorways, hallways, stair wells and other areas to access the bedroom.
  • Design features and layout.
  • Functional elements such as storage, height, and usability.


CONSTRUCTION & DURABILITY

Our furniture is built using solid wood construction methods designed for strength, durability, and long-term use.

Each pice is assembled to be study and well-supported, minimizing movement and noise under normal use.

As with all solid wood furniture, minor movement or sound may occur over time due to environmental conditions and natural wood expansion.  This is normal and not considered a defect.


HANDCRAFTED & NATURAL MATERIALS

Our furniture is built from solid wood (a combination of pine and spruce/fir), and designed to reflect a handcrafted, rustic appearance.

As a result:

  • Wood grain, knots, natural markings, and minor marks from the milling process will vary.
  • Minor nail holes or fastening marks may be visible in areas where components are secured (such as decorative “X” designs, herringbone patterns, trim pieces, or post caps).  These are part of the construction process and are not considered defects.
  • Colour and finish may differ from photos.
  • Each piece will be unique in character.

These are natural characteristics and are not considered defects.


WOOD MOVEMENT & FUNCTION

Wood is a natural material that expands and contracts with changes in temperature and humidity, adjusting to its surrounding environment.

This may result in:

  • Minor gaps around drawers, and headboard and footboard slats.
  • Drawers not always sitting perfectly flush.
  • Slight movement in joints or surfaces over time.
  • Natural wood checking.

These are normal characteristics of solid wood furniture and are not considered defects.


FINISH & ODOUR

We use stain and other finishes on all furniture.

  • Colour variation may occur due to varying stain absorption base on the grain of each board.
  • Oil-based finishes may have a noticeable smell after completion.
  • Odour typically fades over time and can be reduced with ventilation.


COMPLETION TIMELINES

Estimated completion dates are provided in good faith but are not guaranteed.

Delays may occur due to:

  • Materials availability.
  • Order volume.
  • Unforeseen circumstances.

 

CUSTOM ORDERS - FINAL SALE

Due to the custom nature of our furniture, all orders are considered final once a deposit has been received.

We do not accept returns, exchanges, or cancellations after a deposit has been received and production has begun.

 

WARRANTY & RESOLUTION

We stand behind our workmanship given the exceptions mentioned above.  Normal characteristics of wood and items outlined in this document are not consider defects.

If there is a clear defect in workmanship or an error on our part, please notify us within 7 days of delivery or pick-up.

We will work with you to find a fair resolution, which may include:

  • Repairs.
  • Adjustments.
  • Partial compensation where appropriate.

Resolution will be determined based on the specific situation.


FINAL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

By placing an order, where it is considered an order is placed by submission of the deposit amount required for the order, you acknowledge and confirm the following:

    • This order is custom-built based on the measurements, design details, and reference images provided and/or discussed.
    • DESIGN & PROPORTIONS
      • I understand that reference photos are for style guidance only and final appearance will vary based on my selected dimensions, materials, and finish.
      • I understand that features such as drawer size, cubbies, shelving, and spacing may differ in size depending on the measurements provided.
    • DRAWERS & FUNCTIONAL CONSIDERATIONS
      • I understand that bed frame height, mattress height, and side rail design may affect how the bed feels when sitting on the edge.
      • I understand that drawers are handcrafted and may have visible gaps (up to 1/8" around all drawer sides) to allow for natural wood movement.
      • I understand drawers may not sit perfectly flush at all times due to seasonal expansion and contraction of the wood.
      • I understand wood-on-wood drawer slides are used (no metal rails), which may feel different than drawers on metal rails.
    • MATERIALS & FINISH
      • I understand stain colour may vary from photos due to lighting, wood grain, and surrounding environment.
      • I understand "whitewash" and similar finishes are intentionally rustic and may include visible strokes and variations.
      • I understand oil-finishes may have a noticeable smell after completion that can last from several days to a few weeks depending on airflow, temperature and room conditions.
      • I understand the appearance of furniture pieces made of solid wood with a stained finished, as opposed to furniture pieces completed with a laminate or veneer finish.
    • NATURAL WOOD CHARACTERISTICS
      • I understand wood is a natural material and may include knots, grain variation, small imperfections, or texture differences.
      • I understand wood expands and contracts with humidity and temperature, which may affect:
        • Natural wood checking. This natural occurrence does not compromise the structural integrity of the furniture piece.
        • Drawer alignment.
        • Small gaps.
        • Surface smoothness over time.
    • GENERAL EXPECTATIONS 
      • I understand this is handcrafted, rustic furniture and not factory-manufactured.
      • I understand that small nail holes or fastening marks may be visible as part of the handcrafted construction process.
      • I understand minor variations, asymmetry, and natural imperfections are part of the design and are not considered defects.
      • I confirm all measurements, design choices, and features above are correct.
    • COMMUNICATION & APPROVAL
      • I have had the opportunity to ask questions and clarify all details before the build.
      • I have had the opportunity to meet the builders of Black Rabbit Custom Bedrooms to discuss my order and see samples of their workmanship.
      • With submission of my deposit, I acknowledge I have accepted the listed Policies and Acknowledgemets and I approve and consent of this order as described.
